Owl Prowl, 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Audubon State Historic Site, 11788 Highway 965, off of Highway 61 south of downtown St. Francisville. Come explore the park with a ranger-led walk around the plantation grounds. This program gives the public a glimpse of the evening-into-night at the park. Owls, swifts, and bats are plentiful for those interested in bird watching. There is a $5 grounds fee, and we encourage participants to bring binoculars, a flashlight, and bug spray. For more information, please contact the park at 1-225-635-3739.

Explore the life for the Enslaved at Oakley Plantation the year that John James Audubon lived here. See and try your own hand at woodworking and discover the skill it took to construct the buildings you see today. See the park blacksmith at work creating items for the park and learn about life for the Enslaved Blacksmiths who built most of Oakley Plantation. From simple nails to the most complex ironwork we will discuss the skill of these forgotten artisans. This program will center on cotton, not only as a cash crop, but also as a powerful force in shaping the culture and rhythms of daily life on Oakley plantation. As we walk the plantation, the cultivation and processing of cotton will be assessed from the raising of the seed beds, to the picking of the bolls, to the sale and movement of the crop in domestic and international markets.
