Native Habitat Restoration

Native Habitat Restoration, 9:30 a.m. to noon, at Audubon State Historic Site,ย 11788 Highway 965 south of downtown St. Francisville.ย Volunteers will manually remove invasive plants and will plant native species. No prior experience is necessary; a short training and introduction will be provided. Registration is required; please call the park at 225-635-3739. Volunteers 15 years old and under must be accompanied by an adult.ย This work is part of a plan to restore the look of the park to the 1821 woodland that John J. Audubon describes in his journal. Our volunteers will immediately see how their efforts have had a positive impact on the parkland as a more aesthetically pleasing vista, as an improvement of the habitat quality for local wildlife, and as a recreation of the world that the artist and naturalist John J. Audubon saw here in 1821.
