Oakley Library Tour

The Pirrie family library was one of the finest and most comprehensive in the parish during the antebellum years. On Saturday, July 4th, we will take a tour of the library in Oakley House, learning about the function of personal libraries during this period, and we will examine a number of the gorgeous individual volumes in the Pirrie family’s collection. We will also learn how antique and rare books are evaluated by collectors and booksellers, and you will evaluate one of the volumes in the Oakley library.
