Enslaved Life at Rosedown

In recognition of Black History Month, Rosedown State Historic Site is presenting a special program entitled Enslaved Life at Rosedown, an overview of the history of African-American enslavement, specifically in Louisiana, followed by a more detailed look into enslaved life at Rosedown. Discussed during the program will be the layout of the plantation, including outbuildings, home sites, work areas and fields.  The program will be held on Saturday, Feb. 15 at 11 a.m., and will begin in the carriage turn in front of the main house.
Rosedown State Historic Site is located on La. Hwy. 10 in St. Francisville, 30 minutes north of Baton Rouge, off US Hwy. 61.  The site is open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., except Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s Day.  Guided tours of the main house are provided on the hour, beginning at 10 a.m. with the final tour of the day at 4 p.m.
