National Tartan Day
On Sunday, Apr. 6, Rosedown State Historic Site honors and celebrates Scottish culture with National Tartan Day. Daniel Turnbull, original owner of Rosedown, was of Scottish descent through his father, John Turnbull of Dumfriesshire, Scotland. For National Tartan Day, Rosedown will display the Turnbull Clan flag, decorate the house with the Turnbull tartan, and relate the Scottish history behind the Turnbull name.
Rosedown State Historic Site is located on LA Highway 10 in St. Francisville, 30 minutes north of Baton Rouge, off US Highway 61. The site is open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., except Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s Day. Guided tours of the main house are provided on the hour, beginning at 10 a.m. and concluding with the final tour of the day at 4 p.m.
