The Military Men of Oakley

This program will focus on the role of the military men who called Oakley plantation home. Come see living historians covering Oakley plantations military past. Beginning with the founder of the plantation Ruffin Grey who served in the Revolutionary War to the second generation of family Henry Lyons served as a Major under Zachary Taylor in the Mexican American War. Lastly we have William Wilson Matthews who served during the Civil War in the Confederacy. Uniform talks and weapons demonstrations along with the history of the units these men fought within will be discussed and demonstrated.
