March Madness

March is one of those transitional months where it could be cold one minute and warm the next. It’s also the time where Spring events began to bring people out of their winter hibernation. St. Francisville is the best place to experience the transition into Spring with beautiful flowers blooming and so many wonderful events! It is the perfect time to visit, whether it’s your first time, or you’re returning to make more memories here.

Kicking off the “March Madness” on March 3rd is the Chamber’s annual “Uncorked Food & Wine Showcase.” This is a celebration of things we love the most, delicious food and free flowing wine, cocktails, and mocktails! It brings together local food vendors and pairs their delicacies with excellent wine that bring out the food profiles. This year they moved venues to the new Mallory event space. The following weekend is filled with food, music, and a unique cycling competition! On March 9th A Walk in the Park is back with art vendors, food trucks, and music to two-step too. This event is open to the public and promises to be fun for the whole family. A Walk in the Park takes place from 10 am to 5 pm. That’s not the only thing happening on March 9th, Rouge Roubaix is rolling through the hills of West Feliciana Parish! This is a cycling race that begins at 8 am. You can cheer them on at the start/finish line in St. Francisville!

A Louisiana legend will bring his talents to St. Francisville on March 15th. The Old Benevolent Society is brining Little Jimmy Reed to Hemingbough as a fundraiser for their organization. Little Jimmy Reed will perform in true Blues fashion. He is sure to bring the house down! On March 16th, Audubon State Historic Site is hosting a Arts & Nature Fest! Come explore the Natural side of the park while also watching arts and period craft demonstrations around the park. Demonstrators will introduce guests to everything from live animals, to art, dyes, and herbal medicine of 1821. An admission is charged. March 23rd is another fun filled day around town and the perfect way to close out the month! The Tunica Hills Music Fest & Jam is brining the tunes of Tunica Hills to the streets of St. Francisville starting at 10 am. There will be multiple stages around Parker Park and down Ferdinand Street. A unique aspect of the event allows you to “jam” in small groups with musicians as well. The event is open to the public. Taking place at the West Feliciana Parish Sports Park is the annual Dodge Ball Tournament. You can witness the teams advance in the tournament throughout the day. It begins at 10 am.
